Munich Security Conference continues with high-level talks on day 2

The Munich Security Conference continued Saturday on day two with a full slate of speeches by world leaders and high-level talks on security challenges around the world, especially concerning the war in Ukraine, just days before its third anniversary.

The day started with an address by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz set to be followed by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy speaking on prospects for his nation’s future amid the ongoing war, which Russia launched on Feb. 24, 2022.

The day will see a wide range of addresses, panel discussions, and meetings of politicians.

European Council President Antonio Costa, Czech President Petr Pavel, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, and Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson will take part in a discussion on European support for Ukraine.

NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte will also speak on a panel about NATO, the US, and transatlantic security.

Another panel discussion will bring together the foreign ministers of Germany, Poland, France, and the UK.

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will speak at a panel on „Prospects for Syria’s transition” along with his Syrian counterpart Asaad Hasan Al-Shaibani and Saudi counterpart Faisal bin Farhan Al-Saud,

The heads of international organizations such as the World Food Program and the International Organization for Migration will also speak at the annual gathering

On its opening day, political leaders delivered addresses on the main stage and held talks on conference’s sidelines.

High-level discussions about the war in Ukraine and statements on possible peace negotiations as well as the US vice president’s remarks about Europe dominated day one.

The three-day annual conference kicked off Friday in Munich, hosting more than 50 heads of state and government and 150 government ministers from around the world.
