A total of 9,251 companies were deregistered nationwide in January 2024, an increase of 67.86% compared to the same period in 2023, according to statistics from the National Trade Register Office (ONRC).
The highest number of deregistrations were recorded in Bucharest Municipality – specifically 1,376 (an increase of 60.75% compared to January 2023) and in the counties of Dâmboviţa (590, +301.36%), Cluj (469, +84.65%), Constanţa (370, +43.97%), Ilfov (318, +85.96%), Iaşi (314, +46.05%), and Timiş (314, +20.77%).
On the other hand, the fewest deregistrations were recorded in the counties of Ialomiţa (65, an increase of 116.67% compared to the first month of last year), Călăraşi (68, +15.25%), Mehedinţi (75, +74.42%), Caraş-Severin (76, +65.22%), and Giurgiu (76, +105.41%).
The most significant increases in the number of deregistrations were recorded in the counties of Dâmboviţa (+301.36%), Harghita (+168.97%), and Dolj (+141.75%). There was no decrease in the number of deregistrations in any county compared to January 2023.
In terms of economic sectors, the highest number of deregistrations was recorded in wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles, specifically 2,035 (+41.32% compared to January 2023), agriculture, forestry, and fishing (1,178, +226.32%), and information and communication (1,037, +148.68%).
